Nothing can be more shocking than what happened today. For we were really clueless and dumbfounded by the incident. I was just about to feed our female labrador for lunch when I kind of guessed that something was really wrong for she was not in her usual self. That noon she was not in her dog house but instead I found her lying on the foot of a tree in our lot. Carrying then her lunch, I asked her to go and grab her plate yet I got no response. So I just went near her instead. Upon placing her plate just beside her feet, I heard a squeaking sound that came from below her. God! It was a puppy! Then it all sank in. She could not leave that spot for she was in the midst of her labor then. I got so worried that it might rain. They might just end up getting wet and have this high risk of soaking the puppies to death but I could not do a thing. She really won't move and I could not imagine how I could possibly carry her or pull her to the dog house. I knew I had to do this another day. When the puppies are all well and are much able to move themselves. It was really unbelievable for we weren't really aware that she was actually bearing puppies in her womb long before Ondoy struck us. We were expecting the female rottweiler to have her delivery anytime soon 'coz her tummy is just getting bigger which causes some difficulties when it comes to her mobility but not her. Physically, you wouldn't see any single sign of her pregnancy. She didn't increase her weight nor did she have alterations to her eating habits. And the much apparent change that anyone would really notice if your pet gets pregnant, the tummy, neither changed its size at all. So we really didn't have any idea. Tomorrow I'd be moving them to the room adjacent to mine. I'd rather have them all inside the house than risk the health of such miracle puppies. Garsh! Our labrador has gone through the devastating onslaught of Ondoy where she victoriously survived. Sure they need to be pampered as a reward for overcoming such tragic incident..
